By plane
Lech Walesa Airport is situated 10 km away from Gdansk city center. Although it is small, almost all major European airlines serve the airport, including Lufthansa, SAS, Wizzair, Ryanair, LOT and Norwegian, connecting Gdansk with Europe’s biggest cities like London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich.
You can get to the city centre by taxi - a taxi rank is located in front of the main entrance to the passenger terminal and is serviced by CITY PLUS TAXI (+48 58 19 686). The average price to the hotels in Gdansk city center is about PLN 50-60 (nights and weekends are more expensive).


It is also possible to take a bus from the airport to the city centre. The bus stop is located 20 meters from the main airport entrance. There are two direct lines connecting the airport with the Old Town area: 210 (day bus) and N3 (night bus). Tickets can bought from the driver or at the press stands.

By train
The main train station, Gdańsk Główny, which is located in the heart of the Old Town, handles all incoming and outgoing traffic. There are frequent InterCity or Express train services from Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw and other Polish cities to Gdańsk.
The trip from Warsaw to Gdańsk takes approximately 5 hours.

A taxi from the Railway Station to the Venue and to the hotels in the area may cost approx. PLN 10-20.

By ferry
There are two lines which connect Gdańsk/ Gdynia with Sweden - Polferries which operates ferry service between Gdansk and Nynäshamn and Stena Line with its ferry service between Gdynia and Karlskrona.


Ferry service
A ferry service is provided between between Ołowianka Island and the Old City. The ferry will depart every 15 minutes and is free of charge for EHS congress participants carrying their EHS name badge.

Buses and trams
Trams and buses are cheap (3 PLN/1 ride) and frequent. Tickets can be bought from the press stands or at the bus/ tram driver, however it is then slightly more expensive and the drivers usually expect to receive the exact amount.

There are several taxi companies operating in the Gdańsk area (CITY PLUS TAXI is an official taxi service from the airport). The recommended ones are Super Hallo Taxi (+48 58 19 686) and City Plus Neptun Taxi (+48 58 19 666).
Night as well as weekend rates apply.

Parking in the city center is possible, but please remember to pay at the meter (4 PLN/per hour).

The closest ATMs are located within a 10 minute walk in Długie Ogrody street and Stągiewna street.

Smoking policy
Smoking in public places, restaurants, bars, pubs, train stations, bus stops and taxi ranks is banned, unless a separate room with ventilation for smokers is provided.

Accreditation is granted by the Dutch Society of Surgery (NVvH: Nederlandse Vereniging voor Heelkunde) for 16 points.
